Research Experience

All of the research projects below were conducted as part of the University of Arkansas's Biological Engineering Program in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Design of a Continuous Biodiesel Process - August 2007 - May 2008
  • Created a continuous, mass balanced biodiesel production process that minimizes monoglyceride contaminant levels for Future Fuels, Inc.
  • Utilized mass balance, 2nd order kinetics, and thermal heat transfer methods in design.
Finite Element Modeling of an Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator - August 2007 - December 2007
  • Mathematically modeled the voltage potential distribution occurring when a defibrillator pulse is delivered in order to optimize the configuration of electrodes and pulse magnitude.
  • Utilized Finite Element Modeling techniques in MatLab program for design.
Design of an Artificial Liver Bioreactor - January 2007 - May 2007
  • Created a bioreactor containing hepatocyte liver cells to facilitate the successfull removal of toxic ammonia molecules from the bloodstream.
  • Utilized mass balance properties to assist in the design.
